1. Do you iron your sheets?
    If by iron you mean “take out of the dryer, shake a few times, then put on the bed” then yes, I do!

2. Your dream car is….?
    My Pilot! Okay, I’d LOVE a newer one but I’m set for life with this thing. I’ve had it for a few years and still love it as much as the day I brought her home. (Yeah. She’s a she!)

3. Do you have an innie or an outie belly button?
   Innie. And thanks to my spare tire its a waaaaaaaaaay innie.

4. What meal do you look forward to the most..breakfast, lunch, or dinner?
   I LOVE breakfast foods so much, but I never give myself time in the morning for a great breakfast, so I’m going to say that I look forward to dinner the most.

5. Favorite mascara?
  Mascara? What? Okay, I do have some, I just don’t wear it. And its the pink bottle with the black top (waterproof). Is that Maybelline?

6. What would you say your decorating style is..traditional, modern, eclectic, country, french country, shabby chic, etc..?
  I would have to say minimalist. Lol. I don’t have much by way of decorations around here. Partly because we have a dog that would eat things I left out, partly because I can’t make decisions about things I like. For example, we have a big slider door off of our dining room. I’ve been looking for a long, skinny sign to put over that for… oh I don’t know, maybe a year and a half? Seriously. And I look all.the.time. There are photographs on the walls, and a couple shelves with candles, but that is the extent of it. Overall look of the house (color schemes and patterns and whatnot?) – traditional? Modernish? I need to give my house a makeover.

7. Have you ever been skinny dipping?


Okay. I’m a prude and I’m not telling.

8. I hate the smell of…?
Morning breath.
Wet dog.
The diaper pail.
….I’m sure there’s more.

So… I missed it!

I blew right past my 300th post and didn’t even acknowledge it.

I’m a little sad, but not really. I mean, its great and all, but I’ll be more excited for the next major milestone of followers or comments in one post or something like that.

But I guess 300 is a lot.

It HAS to be a boy thing!

We have a pretty typical nighttime routine here when it comes to putting Collin to bed. We skip bath time some nights, but for the most part our after dinner routine goes something like bath, jammies, playtime, sometimes a book, one episode of Handy Manny or Mickey from the DVR, then bed.

Okay, maybe “rarely a book” is more accurate. In my defense, though, Collin looks at books all the time. We read with him all the time. Also, he loves to turn the pages himself so I hardly can get through a story anyway.

Alright. I’ll admit it, I feel guilty on a regular basis that we don’t consistently read a bedtime story.

Anyway. This routine works for us and I especially look forward to bath time. Collin enjoys it (once we’ve persuaded him into the tub) and quite often he gives us a good laugh. We also get pretty soaked since he loves to splash. Usually Brian is the one to give the bath and I am on stand by to wrap Collin up in a towel and whisk him away when he’s done.

Brian has done this lthing as long as I can remember where he’ll take Collin out of the tub, hold him up high, and twist him while saying “shake shake shake” (as he’s shaking the water off). Collin still to this day gets a hoot out of this so I stand and watch and laugh along, holding the towel in my hands as I wait for the baby hand-off.

One recent night everything was going as usual, Brian was doing the shake shake shake and I was waiting. Still holding Collin up at his eye level (which is about 7″ higher than my eye level) he starts extending his arms, signaling my turn to wrap the baby up and take him when…


A big, cheek-flappin toot right in my face. Of course they both thought it was hilarious.

I was just glad it wasn’t a SBD toot instead.


I started off this weight loss goal with one thing in mind: feeling better about myself. I don’t weigh myself (and I do admit that sometimes I wish I knew this information) to keep the pressure off and just focus on that main goal – feeling better, more confident, and more comfortable. I am not a fan of tracking numbers, I never have been, so just doing what I need to do until I can really feel a difference is what works for me.

Today I got the first true glimpse of what progress feels like. I feel much stronger, my indurance is much better than when I began the shred, and although it may not be very noticable yet to others, I have achieved my first true physical change. Just a couple weeks ago I purchased a couple articles of clothing without trying them on and it turned out they were too small, not crazy small, but just annoying enough that it would’ve bothered me to wear for the whole day. This morning I put the same thing on and voila! Success! I’m so thrilled.

Motivation! This is what I need, and with every small change and ever little success I’m sure it will keep coming. Perhaps when I start noticing a bigger difference I will change my ways and check out the weight. Until then, though, I will count on these little triumphs to get me through.

I am so thrilled with this change so far!

You know you might be in for a rough day..

…when you get in the shower in the morning, put shampoo in your hand and lather it up, then apply it to your face.

…when you wake up with a worse headache than you went to bed with.

…when one of your cats decides it’d be a good idea to eat, in its entirety, one of the size stickers you’d find on new clothes, then you have to pull it from its throat.

…when your son wakes up, yet again, soaked through his diaper, even though he didn’t have anything to drink after dinner, and now you’re worried about what to do since he’s already in a size 6 diaper.

…when you’re leaving for the day and you have to SLIDE from the door to the car, instead of walk, because your entire driveway is covered in a solid sheet of black ice.

…when you get in the car to leave and realize you need gas, but you didn’t leave early because you forgot, so you stop for gas which now has you running late, which causes you to get stuck behind a school bus which is also stuck behind a trash truck, and you are on a winding and hilly road so you can’t possibly get around both of them*. (phew, that was a long one)

…when you wake up to find snow, and plenty of it, outside, yet you knew nothing about impending bad weather.

…when you go to have a bowl of cereal for breakfast only to find out there is approximately 1/4 teaspoon of milk left in the container.

…when you wake up to find ugly gray skies and you can think of nothing other than laying your head back down and sleeping until spring.

*I would never just pass a school bus, lets make that clear. However, on more than one occasion I have had a very kind bus driver pull over to allow people to go around them when the line of cars got extremely long.
