Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas Collin! And everyone else!

This has always been a very busy time of year for us, but throwing a baby into the mix just changes everything. It was so much fun experiencing the holiday through the eyes of the baby – exploring all the different gifts and ripping the paper and looking at the lights. Those little things are often lost upon us adults, it was great to see it all again.

We had a great Christmas and just celebrated our last one. Haha. We have multiple Christmases because of the way our families are built and it makes for some busy, but fun times. With all of our stops Collin made out like a bandit. He’s got so many new clothes and toys – what a lucky guy. Besides the great gifts for him we were excited to share his first Christmas with everyone else. He’s got a lot of people who love him and he got to see almost all of them on that single day. What a great day. Brian and I had a great time, too, and were very spoiled.

While everything we all received is very much appreciated I must say that the exersaucer from Gaga and Grandpa and the Jumparoo from Pup and Wendy are huge hits. Collin just loves being able to stand up and play all on his own. It is so fun to watch him checking everything while occasionally looking over to make sure we are still there. I can’t believe how big he’s getting!

I have been saying that its been hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that I still have a week off! I can’t believe that, but its true, and I’m so excited. This week we are having an intimate new years party here, which I’m sure Collin is thrilled for! Before then Brian and I have a few projects we want to get done. After that I plan on relaxing, relaxing, relaxing for my last few vacation days. It will be a nice way to end these couple of weeks.

What a great time of year this is! I hope everyone who is reading had a great holiday and has a great new years!

4 Month Stats.

Today was a good day. Brian worked a little bit this morning, I got some things done around the house so it is starting to feel back to normal, and Collin had a great 4 month doctors appointment. Brian and I decided to go out to get some last minute shopping things done before Collin’s appointment, then we headed to the doctors office. Traffic was crazy and it was questionable that we’d be able to get everything we intended done, but we did. It was obvious that people were out making up for a weekend snowed in, though.

So Collin is a very healthy, very BIG boy. He was big last time, but has grown even more this time. His weight is 20lbs13oz which is off the growth charts. His length is 27.25in, which is in the 97th percentile. I don’t remember the measurement of his head, but I do remember that it was in the 92nd percentile. He’s just so big. Huge even. He’s growing so fast I cannot believe it.

I’m so happy that he’s healthy and proportional, but sometimes I wonder if I’m going to be missing out of special little baby times since he’s getting so big so fast. Thats silly, I can’t wait until he’s mobile and even more interactive than he is now, but sometimes I still can’t help but think it.

The doctor gave us the go-ahead to start solid foods. He’s going to get some rice cereal to start, followed maybe by some oatmeal, then we get to give him fruits and veggies. I cannot wait!!! I’ll be sure to have the camera ready for that! :-)

We Made It!

We have so much to be happy for today! This morning our power finally came back, I am officially on vacation, and even though it makes driving and going out tough, its beautiful outside all covered in snow!

Collin survived with us as we did what we could over the past eight days and five hours. These days were all spent with no power. We had a generator hooked up to the heat system and an extension cord running to whatever room we decided to be in so we could have a light and a tv on. It was so draining to live like that. On us, on our wallets, and I’m sure on the baby. He did awesome though. We set up the pack and play in our bedroom and all slept in there since we couldn’t use the monitor. It was fun having our little family slumber party. It was not fun to have to carry a flashlight wherever we went.

It was so eerie to drive around our pitch black neighborhood over the last week. We have no streetlights anyway, so not having house lights to guide us along our way made it interesting. To know that there are Christmas decorations that were supposed to be lit up, Christmas trees in windows waiting to be shown off, and all of those holiday things made it all kind of depressing. It made me sad to think at my own house there was this tree we decorated all together and we couldn’t even enjoy it.

We are getting back to normal, though. I got up this morning, after discovering the power was back, and did laundry and got out the vacuum. I was more excited than I ever thought I would be to do some cleaning. As I sit here and type this our tree is lit up and I am enjoying it very much. We got groceries to put in our bare refrigerator, we put the baby to bed in his own room, and, thankfully, there is no hum of the generator.
